Alford Children's Centre

We are a small, well resourced, friendly centre located in the car park of Alford Primary School on Farlesthorpe Road in Alford and have a car park for centre users at the side of the building.

Parents and carers, including grandparents, can access a wide range of sessions for 0-5 years from Monday to Friday, including during the school holidays when older siblings up to 8 years are welcome to come along as well. We have an outside play area in which we encourage outdoor play, whatever the weather!

09:30 - 10:30 Little Explorers

Weekly | Themed session 26th March Eggciting Crafts

A sensory and messy play session providing Materials of differing textures, temperatures and consistencies for children to explore, supporting their development and growing confidence. 0-5 years.

13:30 - 14:30 Keepsakes

Next course start 19th February | Invitation Only.

This group welcomes new families with under 1’s to the children’s centre and runs over 6 weeks. There will be opportunitie to make a variety of keepsake items with your child such as foot and hand prints. Places need to be booked on 01507 463218.


09:10 - 13:00 Antenatal Clinic

09:15 - 10:30 Baby and Child Clinic

This includes 6-8 week Assessment, 3-4 month contact, 8-12 month Assessment, 2 - 21/2 year Assessment, Individual Offer (where a specific health need is identified) Appointment only - call 01522 843 000.

10:00 - 11:00 Bumps to Babies

A session for pregnant and new parents, and their babies. This relaxed friendly session support both pregnant mums and new parents, the session focuses on the needs and requests of the families attending. There are lots of resources such as Treasure Baskets, cosy areas and sensory materials which will allow new babies to develop individual curiosity in a safe, secure environment.

14:00 - 15:00 Learning Together Toddlers

Weekly | Themed session 27th March - A Very Bunny Day

Learning together toddler offers a variety of activities including messy play, talk time and songs and stories to support children’s development, by building their confidence as they learn to explore.


09:15 - 10:45 Little Wishes Parent Led Stay and Play

This session is volunteer led, and supported by the Skills Development Officer.
The session offers a variety of fun activities covering all ages from 0-5 years, the activities provided follow the interests of the children attending the session and families attending are encouraged to share their own thoughts and ideas on activities offered.

11:00 - 12:00 Meet and Greet

Come and along and Meet Steph our parent champion who is happy to meet with you and show you around the centre. Please call 01507 463218 for an appointment.

13:30 - 15:00 Top Tips for 3 - 4 month olds

First Wednesday of the month | 7th March | Booking required
A group for parents and carers of children aged 3 - 4 months. Hosted by the Health Team covering issues such as when to start weaning, immunisation advice, accident prevention, minor illness and much more. There will be an opportunity for parents attending this session to self-weigh their baby using the weighing scales provided. Call the centre to book a place 01507 463218

World Book Day - We’re Going on a Bear Hunt 01st March | Flowers - 8th March | C | Spring - 15th March | Eggstravaganza 22nd March | NO SESSION 29th March
This drop in session provides a variety of activities for children to explore supporting children’s changing needs and interests, the session offers an opportunity for parents, carers and children to discover and explore a wide range of play activities together, encouraging children’s independence, confidence and social skills. 0-5 years.

14:00 - 15:00 Movers & Shakers

NO SESSION 29th March

Movers and shakers is a fun music and movement session which supports and develops children’s communication and physical skills. The session includes using musical instruments and singing to support early language development and physical activities such as scarves, bubbles, balls and parachute games to develop co-ordination and physical awareness. 0-5 years.
