Council Services:

Joining your Children's Centre

To access services at any Children's Centre it helps us if you fill in the registration form. You can either do this online, or go along to your nearest Children's Centre, where they will be happy to help you.

The information you provide helps us to improve our services and ensure we are meeting the needs of local children and families.

Joining a Children's Centre is completely free and ensures that we can keep you up to date with services and activities provided by centres near you.

Please note, the form must be filled in by a parent/carer who has parental responsibility for the child.

YES - you automatically have Parental Responsibility

  • If you are the mother
  • If you have adopted the child
  • If you are the father, and you are married to your child's mother (either when the child is born or at a later date). If, since 1st December 2003, you have been registered on the birth certificate as the father (this has nothing to do with what surname the baby has been given).

NO - you don't automatically have Parental Responsibility

  • If you are not married to your child's mother unless, since 1st December 2003, you have been registered on the birth certificate as the baby's father.
  • If you are not the natural (or adoptive) parent, but your partner is. No matter how involved you are in the child's life, you do not automatically have Parental Responsibility, but there are ways you can get it.

For more information about parental responsibility and your rights follow this link www.advicenow.org.uk/livingtogether

You can choose to attend the Children's Centre nearest you, you'll find the options in the online form.

The form is available in other languages, Turkish, Chinese, Dari, Kurdish, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, and Russian.
