Skegness Children's Centre

We are situated on Brunswick Drive, next to the Skegness Infant Academy Nursery. Parking spaces for Children’s Centre customers are generally available on the street of Brunswick Drive. We do have a small car park which is in between the Skegness Infant Academy staff car park and the Skegness Infant Nursery.

Access to our centre is then a few yards down the street next to the Skegness Infant Nursery. Please be aware that with the Skegness Infant Academy located on Brunswick Drive, there are times when the street becomes very busy with cars, as parents are collecting their children from school. The busy times are between the times of 8.45am - 9.15am, 11.45am - 12.15pm and 2.45pm - 3.15pm.

The centre has a secure outdoor play area with shade where the children and babies can play. We also have access to the sports field of the Skegness Infant Academy for certain activities during the Summer. We encourage outdoor play, whatever the weather!

Children and parents can work together to prepare, and cook a nutritious meal. As well as promoting a healthy lifestyle, children will enjoy cooking alongside their parent /carer while developing their motor skills.

13:30 - 14:30 Learning Through Play (0-5 years)

This drop in session provides a variety of activities for children to explore supporting children’s changing needs and interests, the session offers an opportunity for parents, carers and children to discover and explore a wide range of play activities together, encouraging children’s independence, confidence and social skills.

For babies to crawlers

Learning together babies offers a variety of activities including messy play, talk time and songs and stories to support babies’ early development, by building their confidence as they learn to explore.

10:00 - 11:00 Top Tips for 3-4 month olds

1st Tuesday of the month | Booking required

Family Health workers are available to give advice and support to promote baby led weaning and it’s benefits, healthy eating right from the start of introducing solids into their diet, good oral health, healthy living, immunisation programme, discuss minor illnesses and what to do, discuss emotional wellbeing, discuss age appropriate accident prevention. There will be an opportunity for parents attending this session to self-weigh thier baby using the weighing scales provided.. Please call 01522 555652 to book a place.

13:30 - 15:00 Breastfeeding Support Group

For expectant parents and mothers. Come and join us in a relaxed friendly environment to chat, get help, support and advice from a member of the Health Team and other breastfeeding mums.

13:30 - 15:00 Little Explorers

A sensory and messy play session providing materials of differing textures, temperatures and consistencies for children to explore, supporting their development and growing confidence. Spare clothing is advisable to bring as it can get messy!

We are offering a 4 weekly sessions which include; getting to know your baby and becoming a parent, preparation for labour and birth, caring for you and your baby in the early days, feeding your baby and baby’s first language. 0 - 1 years
A session for pregnant and new parents, and their babies. This relaxed friendly session support both pregnant mums and new parents, the session focuses on the needs and requests of the families attending. There are lots of resources such as Treasure Baskets, cosy areas and sensory materials which will allow new babies to develop individual curiosity in a safe, secure environment.

Growing talk is a music and rhyme session focusing on developing children growing language skills, children will be able to sing along to their favourite songs and rhymes in this fun music session.

Growing talk is a music and rhyme session focusing on developing children growing language skills, children will be able to sing along to their favourite songs and rhymes in this fun music session.

10:00 - 11:00 Keepsakes

This session is to introduce new families to the children’s centre. The group will offer an opportunity for families to make a variety of ‘keepsake’ items with their children such as hand and foot prints and learning journeys which can be taken home.

10:00 - 12:00 Health Visitor Assessment Clinic for 0 - 5 year olds

Appointments only
Health Visitors are available for 6-8 week, 3-4 months, 8-12 months & 2 year checks or if you have any concerns regarding your pre-school child to answer your questions. Call the Health Team on 01522 308800 to book. After 18th February call 01522 843000.

11:30 - 12:30 Parent Led Group

A variety of fun activities for 0-5 years. Parents are encoraged to come along and share their ideas about the children’s centre and how we can improve our services and groups.

13:30 - 15:30 Sensory Room

The sensory room is designed to develop babies senses such as touch, vision, sound and smell through lighting, music and objects. Come and explore a variety of sensory resources in a calm, relaxed environment. Bookings available on other days, please contact the Children’s Centre on 01522 555652

Friday

10:00 - 11:00 Movers and Shakers

Movers and shakers is a fun music and movement session which supports and develops children’s communication and physical skills. The session includes using musical instruments and singing to support early language development and physical activities such as scarves, bubbles, balls and parachute games to develop co-ordination and physical awareness.

Fortnightly | 10th February Hearts and Flowers | 24th February The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Suitable for 0 - 8 year olds. No need to book, just come along for some free fun for all the family. There will be a variety of activities such as messy play, gardening and cooking. Brunch ingredients will be provided and prepared by the families attending the session.
