Breaks as a family

As part of Lincolnshire’s Short Breaks offer, families are able to access a holiday at a highly subsidised rate. These include The Thomas Centre; a specialist autism friendly holiday centre or Butlin’s, Skegness; two bespoke caravans

Adapted Caravans at Butlin’s, Skegness

Short Breaks currently owns two specially adapted caravans at Butlin’s Holiday Centre, Skegness. These caravans are maintained and managed by Every-One on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council (LCC). Both our caravans are suitable for children and young people with complex health needs and/or challenging behaviour, up to the age of 25, to allow families to have a break together.

One caravan, Dunes 53, has been adapted for wheelchair access and sleeps up to five guests with a purpose made bedroom/wet room with a hoist; there is a specialist bed and shower, a further double bedroom and double pull-out bed in the lounge area.

The other caravan, Sandhills 128, is set in a quieter location, has been adapted to meet the needs of children and young people with challenging behaviour and in particular those with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The adaptations such as door guards, a remote control heater and safety locks on the windows. This ensures a safer environment for children and young people and ultimately less worry for parents and carers which will help the family to enjoy a more peaceful break together. The caravan sleeps up to 7 people including; a double bedroom, twin bedroom, single bedroom and a pull-out double sofa bed.

Both caravans are comfortably and fully furnished, there is adapted cutlery and they are also equipped with a TV, DVD player. All bedding is supplied for the appropriate number of guests. This includes pillows with pillow cases, duvets with duvet covers, mattress protectors and bed sheets. There is an onsite launderette should any of the bedding require cleaning during a break. We must advise that if any items are beyond laundering then guests will incur a charge for replacements.

The price is for a five day break from Monday to Friday or a four day break over a weekend from Friday to Monday. The break is inclusive of full entrance and access to the Bultin’s holiday park except when they are holding special events.
