FAQs - Do it Online

Frequently asked questions about applying, appealing and collecting your offer online.

I am experiencing technical difficulties. Who shall I contact?

Please email or telephone the Education Team on 01522 782030 (open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday) giving details of your problem. If you send an email please include your full name, your child’s full name and their date of birth.

I have already submitted my online application and wish to change my preferences

If you have applied online for a school place for the forthcoming September whether you can change your preferences online will depend on the timing of your request.

If you would like to change your preferences in time for the main offer day you will need to submit a formal request by:

  • Noon, on 15 January 2018 if you are applying Reception or Year 3.
  • Noon, on 31 October 2017 if you are applying for Year 7.

A formal request will usually involve you amending your online application.  However, you can request a paper application and in limited circumstances we may accept a request in writing.

If you have moved address, we will also require proof of residency.

If we receive your request after the deadline above you will not hear the outcome of your new preferences until the following allocation round.

I have forgotten my password

Continue to logon as normal, enter your username and select ’Forgotten Password’. You will be required to verify some information before your password is emailed to you.

If you do not have an email address registered to your account you will need to contact the Education Team on 01522 782030.

I have forgotten my username

Continue to logon as normal, when you are on the ’Register or Sign In’ page select ’Forgotten Username’. You will then be required to enter your email address and your username will then be emailed to you.

If you do not have an email address register to your account you will need to contact the Education Team on 01522 782030.

My application will not submit

You cannot submit an online application until you have agreed with the declaration.

Please ensure that you have read the declaration and have selected agree.  Once you have done this you will be able to submit your online application.

Why can I not see the school I want to apply for on the preferences page?

If you can only see a limited number of schools this is because you are most likely looking at the list of schools in your designated transport area, this list is for information only.

Further down the page you will see another list containing all schools in Lincolnshire.  This is the list you will need to pick your preferences from.

The Apply Online system does not recognise my address

The online system may not recognise a property for a number of reasons; the most common problem is with newly built properties.

If your address is not listed please contact our Customer Service Centre on 01522 782030 and they will be able to assist you.

I cannot log on to view the school my child has been offered

When you applied for a school place if you saved the ‘Register or Sign In’ page to your favourites, this page will no longer work.

This is because the page has been replaced by a new version.  You will need to re-visit the website by typing in the address bar and save this new url in your browser’s favourites.

Why will the system not let me apply online?

Child’s Age

If you child is not the correct age for the admissions round we are currently coordinating, the system will not let you apply.

Apply Online is only for those who require a place in the forthcoming September for:

  • Reception
  • Year 7
  • Year 3 at a Junior School
  • Children in Year 2 at an infant school who require a Year 3 place at a primary school

If your child is an early on late transfer you will not be able to apply online, you will need to complete a paper application form, these are available on request.


The Lincolnshire Apply Online will only accept applications from Lincolnshire residents. If you do not live in Lincolnshire you have to apply through your home local authority’s Apply Online system.

The online admissions system is available to Lincolnshire parents who have applied online for a Reception, Junior or Year 7 place.
