SEN Assessment

The laws define a child who has a learning difficulty and needs to have special educational provision, as a child that has special educational needs.

A learning difficulty is if your child finds it much harder to learn than most children of the same age or has a disability which makes it difficult for him or her to use normal educational facilities.

Most children's special educational needs will be met by help normally available through their school.

In all schools teaching takes account of children's different needs and schools adopt a graduated approach to make sure that what the schools provide matches a child's particular difficulty.

If your school is concerned about your child’s progress they will involve you in deciding the best way to support your child. The school can call on a range of support services and will keep you regularly involved by inviting you to review your child’s progress.
