Council Services:

Volunteer policy

A range of up-to-date information including the corporate Volunteer Engagement Policy and guidance information is now available to make it simpler for directorates to recruit volunteers.

These are designed to support and recognise the people who volunteer for the Council.

Volunteers bring added value through a range of expertise that complements and helps deliver our services.

There are three main documents to support officers in managing volunteers:

  • Volunteer Engagement Policy
  • Volunteer Welcome Book
  • Volunteer Supervisors Handbook

In order to encourage consistency of approach and to ensure that volunteers are recruited and managed properly, there is further corporate guidance available to managers of volunteers under the following headings:

  • Application
  • Induction
  • Day-to-day management
  • Development
