A17 Gedney 2+1 Improvements

The Gedney 2+1 improvement scheme will provide an eastbound overtaking lane on the A17 between the roundabout junction of A17/Station Road, Gedney, and the junction with Lutton Garnsgate. 

The improvements will provide road users with safe overtaking opportunities and increased journey time reliability.

Subject to a successful bid to the DfT for further funding, an equivalent overtaking opportunity on the westbound section at Long Sutton would be delivered the following year.

Cost and Funding

The Gedney 2+1 improvement scheme will cost £2.5m and is being funded using part of the £5.4m allocated to the authority by the Department of Transport (DfT) from its National Productivity Investment Fund initiative. The money was awarded to LCC to help reduce congestion at key locations, upgrade or improve the maintenance of local highway assets, improve access to employment and housing, and develop economic and job creation opportunities.
