Council Services:

Regeneration of Grantham town centre

Lincolnshire County Council and South Kesteven District Council are working together as part of the Growth Point Partnership to deliver improvements in the town centre of Grantham.

The first phase of the Market Place/Westgate project, completed in 2011, involved improvements to the Market Place and Narrow Westgate.

Works included the introduction of reduced traffic speed, new paving, revised parking arrangements with specific provision for loading and taxis, new pedestrian friendly crossing points and public art.

In 2012 landscaping took place of the Marketplace together with the renovation of the Market Cross.

The second phase in Wide Westgate continued the design principles and type of materials used in Market Place.

In December 2011 an information day took place about the proposals for Wide Westgate at the George Shopping Centre to gain views and comments.

The renovation included road resurfacing and high quality Yorkstone materials used to create new pavements, parking areas and access to premises. There are also three new raised crossing points including a zebra crossing and three new disabled parking bays.
