St Botolph's Footbridge, Boston

The structure spans the River Witham and overlooks St Botolph’s Church, known as Boston Stump.

The contemporary bowstring design was chosen following extensive consultation with the public. The new structure was wider than the previous bridge and includes a non-slip surface and improve access for pedestrians, wheelchair users, dismounted cyclists, pushchairs and mobility scooters.

The crossing also features an information board giving details of Boston Stump. It incorporates lighting to create a bright and welcoming gateway into the town.

Conservation Area Consent to demolish the old footbridge was granted by the Secretary of State after no objections were raised by English Heritage and Boston Borough Council.
