Boston Transport Strategy

In recognition of the importance that transport plays, Lincolnshire County Council, in partnership with Boston Borough Council, has released a new Boston Transport Strategy that builds upon the improvements delivered since the last Strategy was published in 2006.

Extended to 2036 in order to align to the proposed timings for the developing South East Lincolnshire Local Plan, the new Strategy is focused both on easing existing problems and supporting the future development of the town by through identifying a range of short, medium and long term proposals to improve access within the town and the immediate surrounding area.

The Strategy aims to:

  • Support people travelling as part of their daily lives
  • Improve how businesses reach their markets
  • Influence travel behaviour
  • Prioritise walking and cycling
  • Promote public transport
  • Provide for traffic while reducing its negative impacts

The success of the Strategy is dependent on buy-in, support, resources and funding from a range of stakeholders. The Strategy cannot be delivered by Lincolnshire County Council and Boston Borough Council alone.

Existing and future funding opportunities are currently being considered, with a view to steering the short, medium and long-term implementation of the Strategy measures.
