  1. An Expression of Interest; then, if successful,
  2. A Full Application

How to Apply

  1. Check if your project is located in the Wash Fens area
  2. Download and read the Wash Fens Applicant Handbook
  3. Check the submission dates below
  4. Download an Expression of Interest Form and Guidance Notes
  5. Complete and Submit to
  6. If successful, you will be invited to submit a Full Application

1) Check if your project is located in the Wash Fens area

All projects must take place within a LEADER Local Action Group Area. (Map of Wash Fens). If your business or project crosses the LAG border, please contact us and we will advise you on how you should proceed.  A map with contact details for the five Local Action Groups within Greater Lincolnshire can be downloaded here.

2) Download and read the Wash Fens Applicant Handbook

Please note Version 4.1 of the Applicant Handbook includes references to the Outline Application Form which has recently been replaced with an Expression of Interest Form. Any references made to the Outline Application can be taken to apply equally to the Expression of Interest.

It is important that you read the Handbook before submitting an Expression of Interest. It will help you to determine if your project is eligible for funding and also provides essential information about LEADER and the funding application process. If you are at all uncertain about whether LEADER funding is right for you or would simply prefer to chat through your idea with us first, please get in touch. Information and advice is available free of charge to all potential applicants.

Email: with your contact details and a member of the team will call you back.

3) Check the submission dates

Please submit your Expression of Interest as soon as it is ready. We will endeavour to let you have a decision within one month. At times of high demand, we reserve the right to extend the time required to review applications (NB. Submission dates for Full Applications are given in Stage 6 below).

4) Download an Expression of Interest Form and Guidance Notes

The Expression of Interest form is an Excel Spreadsheet and must be completed and returned in a Microsoft Excel compatible format. We are sorry but we are unable to accept handwritten applications. Applications received in a non-compatible or unacceptable format will be returned. Guidance Notes are available to assist with completion of the form. However, if you experience any difficulties, please contact us for help and advice.

5) Complete and Submit to

Email your completed form to us. We will send you an acknowledgement within 5 working days to confirm receipt. We will contact you again once your Expression of Interest has been reviewed to confirm if you will be invited to proceed to the next stage.

6) If successful, you will be invited to submit a Full Application

If the Expression of Interest is successful, applicants will be sent a Full Application form with a deadline of 4 months for submission. We accept applications on any day within the 4 month period. In order to submit a Full Application, you must have a Single Business Identifier (SBI) Number from the Rural Payments Agency. If you don’t already have one of these, you will have to register with the RPA. Follow this link to apply:

The Full Application form asks for more detail about the project - building on the information given at the outline stage. Full Applications will be assessed by the Local Action Group and not all applications will necessarily be successful.

Your application will be checked for eligibility and completeness and then appraised. If everything is in order it will be put forward for consideration at the next available Local Action Group (LAG) Meeting. The LAG meets at least every quarter and more frequently when required. We will notify you of the meeting date that your project has been allocated to.

Please note, if your application is incomplete we will ask you for further information and this is likely to delay the decision making process. We reserve the right to postpone or re-arrange LAG meeting dates according to local circumstances.
