Voices4Choices (V4C) – Lincolnshire’s Children in Care Council

V4C is the name for our Children in Care Council group.

The Children in Care Council is for all children and young people with care experience. The group talks about the issues that are important to them, as children and young people, and help make positive changes to improve things for everyone.

They can meet with managers to see how they are delivering on their promises. The views of the Children in Care Council are used to make better the help and support provided to children and young people.

What is V4C all about?

  • we talk about issues that matter to children and young people in care
  • sometimes guests are invited to come and talk to the group
  • campaigning for changes to make things better
  • making friends, developing confidence, learning new things
  • organising trips and activities and having fun!

Where does V4C take place?

We have 4 groups that each meet on a monthly basis. Meetings usually take place in youth centres and other places where there are activities to do, for example 10 pin bowling.

The groups are led by friendly Youth Workers and Participation Officers who are experienced in helping new members feel at ease and develop confidence.

Currently we have meetings in Lincoln, Gainsborough, Grantham, Boston and Skegness but locations may vary according to need. Food is always provided!

We pay transport such as taxis and train fares for children and young people to attend.

We also provide virtual meetings for anyone not able to attend a face to face group.
