How to book

You can only book a National Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) course if you have received a letter from the police inviting you to attend.

We offer the following NDORS courses:

Book a course

If the police have offered you a place, you can book a course. You will need your course offer letter containing your police reference number and PIN.

Depending on the course you are offered, you may have the option to take your course in a classroom at a venue or online.

If the police have offered you a course, you can attend anywhere in the country. It doesn't matter where you attend or which police force referred you.

Courses must be paid in full at the time of booking. Card payment is preferred; however, if you can’t pay online, you can book and pay for your course with cash at the LRSP main office at Witham House, The Pelham Centre, Canwick Road, Lincoln, LN5 8HE.

After booking, you will receive a confirmation email which you must read carefully. Please check your junk or spam folders if you cannot see the email in your inbox.

Classroom venues in Lincolnshire

A classroom course means that your course will be in-person with a tutor at a venue. Courses with more attendees may have two tutors.

Online course information

For most courses, you can choose to take them online via the video conferencing platform Zoom. This means that as long as you have everything included in the lists below, you can choose to attend your course from your own home. 

To do this, you will need one of the following devices:

  • A laptop or computer
  • A tablet
  • A smartphone

Your device will need to have the following:

  • A stable internet connection
  • A working web camera
  • A working microphone
  • Headphones or a speaker
  • Enough battery to last for the duration of your course

It is essential that when doing your course online, you are alone in a quiet room with no background noise, where you will not be disturbed or distracted.

Late attendees or missed courses

Unfortunately, late attendees cannot be admitted to courses.

If you have missed your course and remain within the police offer deadline, you can rebook your course online up to 72 hours after the missed course ends.

If you fail to rebook and complete your course with any provider, the police will take further action.

National Speed Awareness Course (NSAC)

Only people who the police have offered a National Speed Awareness Course (NSAC) can complete this course.

If the police have offered you a place, you can book online.

The course costs £90 and lasts for 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Course overview

This course is designed to make communities safer by helping you to drive at a safe speed within the speed limit through the following objectives:

  • Improve knowledge of speed limits and skills in identifying different speed limit areas.
  • Increase understanding of the negative consequences of speeding.
  • Increase skills in recognising and managing pressure to speed.
  • Increase awareness of the importance of concentrating on the roads and anticipating hazards.
  • Increase intentions and reduce barriers to driving or riding at a safe speed.

We will not allow you to join a course if you:

  • are late.
  • are unable to show the trainer your valid photocard driving licence (or paper licence supported by an acceptable photographic ID).

National Motorway Awareness Course (NMAC)

Only people who the police have offered a National Motorway Awareness Course (NMAC) can complete this course.

Course overview

This course is designed to make motorways (and, in particular, managed motorways) safer, more efficient and a better experience for people who use and work on them. Its objectives are to increase your:

  • understanding of how to read and safely use motorways and, in particular, managed motorways.
  • understanding of how and why variable speed limits and lane closures are imposed.
  • awareness of the negative consequences for self and others of breaking the rules on motorways – and the benefits of complying.
  • recognition of your own personal vulnerability to these consequences.
  • awareness of how rule-breaking behaviour on motorways is seen and judged negatively by other road users.
  • concentration and observation while using motorways.
  • ability to maintain a safe space while using motorways.

We will not allow you to join a course if you:

National Rider Risk Awareness Course (NRRAC)

Only people who the police have offered a National Rider Risk Awareness Course (NRRAC) can complete this course.

The course costs £90 and lasts for 3 hours.

Course overview

This course is designed to help you recognise that powered two wheeled (PTW) riders are considered vulnerable road users.

The course aims to reduce high-risk riding behaviour by riders of PTWs.

The intended impact is to reduce the frequency of road traffic collisions (RTCs), leading to a subsequent decrease in the probability of involvement in RTCs, subsequent injury, and death.

The course objectives are to increase your:

  • understanding of why road traffic laws exist and the nature of the specific laws relevant to course attendance.
  • understanding of the universal application of road traffic law to all vehicles using the roads and the diverse consequences of violating it.
  • recognition of your own personal vulnerability to these consequences.
  • ability to recognise the personality characteristics that increase your willingness to break traffic rules and how to manage the consequent behavioural tendencies.
  • awareness of how offending is seen and judged negatively by other road users, including other PTW riders.
  • understanding of the nature of the limitations in human cognitive performance and how these factors relate to riding situations, particularly those implicated in RTCs involving PTWs.
  • ability to recognise and manage external pressures that may encourage the commission of traffic offences.

What's Driving Us? (WDU)

Only people who the police have offered a What’s Driving Us? (WDU) can complete this course.

Course overview

This course aims to create safer communities by increasing the likelihood that clients drive safely and considerately, in line with the Highway Code.

Its objectives are to increase your understanding of:

  • what constitutes safe and considerate driving, and the ways in which the Highway Code support this.
  • the causes and negative consequences – for you and for others – of risky and inconsiderate driving.
  • your own personal susceptibility to these consequences.
  • the extent to which other road users drive in accordance with the Highway Code.
  • the importance of concentration, observation, anticipation and allowing adequate space and time.
  • your own driving as unsafe or inconsiderate and encourage you to create an action plan to address personally relevant issues.

We will not allow you to join a course if you:

  • are late.
  • are unable to show the trainer your valid photocard driving licence (or paper licence supported by an acceptable photographic ID).
  • bring an interpreter (if required) not named on your booking (or they do not have an acceptable photographic ID).

Safe and Considerate Driving (SCD)

Only people who the police have offered a Safe and Considerate Driving (SCD) course can complete this course.

The course costs £175 and lasts for one day.

 The course is delivered in two parts:

  • AM: a 3-hour theory completed in a classroom.
  • PM: a 4-hour practical (in-car) completed on-road with an approved driving instructor and maximum on-road client trainer ratio of 2:1.

We recommend arriving 15 minutes early for your course, as late attendees will be refused entry.

You must bring your current valid driving licence and any prescribed vision aids you require to drive.

Course overview

This course increases attendees' awareness and understanding of:

  • the causes and negative consequences of risky and inconsiderate driving.
  • the importance of concentration, observation, anticipation and allowing adequate space and time.
  • the reasons why their own driving may be unsafe or inconsiderate.

We will not allow you to join a course if you:

  • are late.
  • are unable to show the trainer your valid photocard driving licence (or paper licence supported by an acceptable photographic ID).
  • bring an interpreter (if required) not named on your booking (or they do not have an acceptable photographic ID).

Boston

The venue is located minutes from the centre of Boston, Lincolnshire.

  • Free parking is available on-site and there is nearby on-road parking if the car park is full.

  • The building has four steps up to the reception doors. There is a permanent accessible ramp available to the left of the doors.
  • Upon arrival and prior to your course start time, you will be asked to wait in the front reception area, where seating is available.
  • Your course trainer(s) will greet you shortly before the course start time and show you to the training room. The room is a short walk (approximately 10 metres/30 feet) from the reception and is on the same floor level.
  • Toilet facilities (including accessible toilets) are close to the training room and are on the same floor level.

Refreshments

Water is available in the training room. Tea and coffee is also available in the training room at break time only and is free of charge.

Smoking or vaping

Smoking or vaping is not permitted anywhere in the building. A smoking/vaping area is located outdoors to the side of the building.

Fire procedure

  • Please follow the emergency procedure set out by the centre.
  • The assembly point is at the far end of the car park.
  • Upon the alarm sounding, please exit the building calmly and stay with your trainer(s).
  • Your trainer(s) will escort you to the fire assembly point and conduct a check to ensure all course attendees are safe and present.
  • Do not re-enter the building until permission has been given by the appointed fire marshal.

The venue is located on Willoughton Drive, off Foxby Lane, just outside the centre of Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.

  • Your course trainer(s) will greet you shortly before the course start time and show you to the training room. The room is located on the first floor, the stairs are located at the rear of reception, and a lift is located within reception.
  • Toilet facilities (including accessible toilets) are on the same level (the first floor) and are close to the training room. Toilets are also available on the ground floor.

Refreshments

Water is available in the training room free of charge. Hot drinks are available from a vending machine in the reception area on the ground floor, at a cost.

Smoking or vaping

Smoking or vaping is not permitted anywhere in the building. A smoking or vaping area is located outside to the rear of the building.

Lincoln

The venue is located above the Pelham Centre, next to the Pelham Bridge (above Portland Tools, Party Planet and ZR Tyres).

Putting this postcode into a satellite navigation system will likely take you to the wrong side of Pelham Bridge. We advise you to not use the venue postcode to find your way to the venue.

Parking and accessibility

  • Parking is not permitted at the venue or anywhere in the Pelham Centre complex, except for Blue Badge holders. Parking is available within the city centre for a charge.
  • You can view the Lincoln venue map for further parking information.
  • Blue Badges holders: parking is limited. Please call 01522 212 314 to notify us prior to your course date. Blue Badge holders must use bays on the upper parking level of the Pelham Centre. The vehicle access ramp is located next to ZR Tyres.
  • The site is monitored by an independent parking company. Unauthorised on-site parking may result in a parking fine.
  • Please plan your journey by allowing ample time for traffic delays, parking and getting to the venue.
  • Vehicle or pedestrian access can be found on the south side of the building, opposite the entrance to Dunford Road, by accessing the ramp next to ZR Tyres. What3Words location: Folds.Surely.Radar
  • Alternative pedestrian access is via the spiral staircase on the west side of the building, adjacent to the Pelham Bridge and Party Planet.
  • From the upper level of the car park, there are no steps to access the building. To access the training room once inside the building, there is a door immediately on your left, which is usually open. Seating is provided within the training room foyer.
  • Your course trainer(s) will greet you shortly before the course start time and show you to the training room. There is a very short walk (5 metres/16 feet) with no further changes in floor level.
  • There are toilets on the first floor (which is the same level as the training room) and on the second floor of Witham House. The female accessible toilets are located on the first floor and the male accessible toilets are located on the second floor (and are accessible via stairs or a lift).

Refreshments

Hot drinks are available in the foyer. They cost £1 and only cash is accepted. Water is available free of charge.

Smoking or vaping

Witham House is a non-smoking venue. Smoking or vaping is not permitted anywhere in the building or on the upper level car park.

Fire procedure

  • Please follow the emergency procedure set out by the centre.
  • The assembly point is in the lower level car park beyond the end of the ramp to the south of the building, and the furthest point of the car park from the building.
  • Upon the alarm sounding, please exit the building calmly and stay with your trainer(s).

NDORS terms and conditions

These terms and conditions relate to all National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) courses.

By accepting the opportunity to attend a course from the referring police force, you are entering into an agreement with Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership (LRSP) to abide by the following terms and conditions.

  1. You must check and carefully read all documentation sent to you. Contact Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership (LRSP) drivertraining@lincolnshire.gov.uk if you have not received your confirmation email. Clients attending an online digital Zoom course (not a classroom course at a venue), will be sent an additional email 48 hours prior to the course start time containing the Zoom meeting link and joining instructions.
  2. The course fee is payable by debit or credit card at the time of booking. Cash payments are only accepted by making a booking at the LRSP offices in Lincoln during normal office hours.
  3. All changes made by you to the date and time of a booking are subject to the police deadline for completion, availability and charges. You can access your booking to make changes or cancel. Information on fees and charges can be found at the end of this document.
  4. It is essential that identification can be made prior to entry to a course. If a piece of clothing inhibits this identification the trainer will ask the client to remove or adjust the garment to enable the identification to take place. A private space can be made available. If this is required, we will need prior notification via the ‘additional requirements’ section within your booking, along with any other essential information i.e. you request that the ID check be conducted by someone you feel comfortable with. 
  5. Disqualified drivers or riders may be eligible to attend a NDORS course (classroom or online only). If your driving licence has been suspended or revoked, you must notify the referring police authority immediately for them to make a decision on your eligibility to attend a NDORS course. If the issuing police force withdraw the conditional offer LRSP will cancel your course place and refund any monies paid.
  6. You must bring a valid photocard driving licence or your paper licence plus another form of photographic ID. If you fail to produce the required documentation, you will not be admitted. Rebookings will be subject to the police deadline for completion, availability and charges (see charges and refunds below). If you cannot provide a valid driving licence or photographic ID, contact LRSP on 01522 212314 for advice. Valid IDs include:
    • valid passport
    • expired passport (the photo must hold resemblance to your current appearance)
    • valid photographic EU or Swiss national identity card
    • valid armed forces identity card
    • valid police warrant card or badge
    • valid employee's identity pass
    • citizen card
    • valid photographic firearm or shotgun certificate
    • valid government-issued identity card
    • SMART card
    • electoral identity card
    • photographic disabled badge
    • NUS photographic card
    • photographic university or college ID card
    • company ID card of a nationally recognised company (photographic)
    • council-issued bus pass
    • pension book
    • Young Scot card
  7. Classroom courses, attendees must arrive 15 minutes before the start time to allow for registration. For classroom and online courses, late arrivals will not be admitted. If entry is refused, you must contact LRSP within 72 hours of the course end time. You may rebook with LRSP or another service provider, subject to the police deadline for completion, availability and charges (see charges and refunds below).
  8. Satisfactory completion of the course is dependent upon attendance throughout the duration of the course and making a full and positive contribution through active participation. Clients must demonstrate a responsible attitude towards safe driving or riding. LRSP retains the right for contracted trainers to follow procedure and where necessary, remove attendees from courses.
  9. Disruptive behaviour, wilful non-compliance or wilful misbehaviour is not acceptable. If you leave the course before it finishes, it will classify as a non-completion. You will receive a part refund (see charges and refunds). If you leave the course before it finishes due to extenuating circumstances, you must inform the trainer immediately. You must rebook your course within 72 hours of the course end time, subject to the police deadline for completion, availability and charges (see charges and refunds below).
  10. In order to access and participate on an online course (not applicable to classroom courses held at a venue) you must have access to either a home PC, laptop, electronic tablet or smartphone. You must have internet access capable of streaming video and sound. Your choice of device must be fitted with a microphone and a camera, which must not be turned off. Online courses are delivered using the Zoom platform from your home (not at a LRSP venue). You must complete the course alone in a private room with adequate lighting, without disturbances or distractions. You must not take screenshots, photographs or recordings. Social media is actively monitored. If a data breach is discovered your course attendance will classify as a non-completion. You will receive a part refund (see charges and refunds) and your case will be referred back to the Police.
  11. Online course attendees only: please note, it is your responsibility to ensure that your device settings are correct and ready for your course. Failure to do so may result in you not successfully completing your course and you may incur a rebooking fee. Technical assistance is available prior to your course. Please refer to your booking confirmation email for technical advice. Zoom virtual backgrounds, including blurred backgrounds, must be turned off and not used. Your device should be set to do not disturb.
  12. If you are unable to attend due to illness or the death of an immediate relative, you will be required to book a new course within 72 hours and a pay a charge. If you provide a medical certificate or appropriate confirmation of a death within seven days, or at any other time agreed with LRSP, you will be refunded the charge (see charges and refunds below).
  13. If you fail to attend or do not successfully complete your course, LRSP will notify you either by phone or email asking you to call and rebook within 72 hours of the end time of your original course booking. If you do not contact LRSP within 72 hours a partial refund of £49 will be issued. All changes and rebookings are subject to the police deadline for completion, availability and charges (see charges and refunds below).
  14. Every effort will be made to accommodate any additional requirements providing you have informed us at the time of booking. If no such indication has been made, LRSP will not be held responsible for failing in the provision of any additional requirement. If you cannot attend the course as a result of this, a further course may be rearranged, subject to the police deadline for completion, availability and charges (see charges and refunds below).
  15. The course is provided in the English language. If you require the assistance of an interpreter to actively participate in the course:
    • we can provide a British Sign Language interpreter. If a BSL interpreter is required, you must request this at the time of booking. We will endeavour to provide one, however due to interpreter availability a change in course date may be necessary.
    • it is your responsibility to provide your own foreign language interpreter. You must notify us at the time of booking that you are bringing an interpreter and their name must be provided. We are unable to accept a booking without your interpreter’s name. They must be 16 or over and produce photo ID.
    • if the interpreter’s name is not recorded on the attendance register, you will not be admitted to the course. If you do not bring an interpreter and the trainer deems that your understanding and communication is not of a satisfactory level, you will not be entitled to complete a course on that date. A further course may be rearranged, subject to the police deadline for completion, availability and charges (see charges and refunds).
  16. Safe and considerate driving courses attendees only, mandatory eyesight checks will be conducted. If you fail the eyesight check, you will not be permitted to complete the course. A further course may be rearranged subject to the police deadline for completion, availability and charges. If you have concerns regarding your eyesight, please seek advice from an optician well in advance of your course.
  17. Any use of abusive or foul language towards LRSP staff, its contractors or course clients at any time, will result in your file being returned to your issuing police authority and no further courses will be offered from LRSP. You will receive a part refund (see charges and refunds). In addition, anyone using or threatening to use violence will be prosecuted.
  18. Classroom courses - weapons will not be permitted under any circumstances. This includes blades or any device which may be able to be construed as a weapon (for example work blades or screwdrivers).
  19. You must attend in a fit state to participate fully. Consumption of alcohol or any evidence of alcohol consumption or use of illicit drugs will result in your immediate removal from the course. You will receive a part refund (see Charges and refunds). No further courses will be offered by LRSP and your file will be returned to the issuing police authority.
  20. Please ensure you consider your own personal hygiene when attending a course. Please dress appropriately and ensure you are not attending a course in a state of undress. Classroom courses: dirty or muddy clothing or boots are not acceptable. You must bring your glasses or contact lenses with you if you need them. If attending a course with a practical driving element, please ensure you are wearing appropriate footwear.
  21. Classroom courses - in order to provide a safe and healthy environment for employees and contractors LRSP exercises Lincolnshire County Council's smoke-free policy. LRSP also has a responsibility to clients not wishing to be exposed to smoke or vapour. Smoking of any kind will not be permitted within the building, including e-cigarettes. Smoking or vaping will only be permitted in the designated smoking area. Online course attendees only: please refrain from smoking or vaping during your course delivery time.
  22. Use of mobile electronic devices will not be permitted in the training room and could lead to your dismissal from the course. Clients attending online courses must not use any electronic device except for the purpose of completing the course. Please also refer to point 11.
  23. Children will not be admitted to the course (both classroom and online courses). You must ensure that childcare is arranged for the entire duration of the course. Clients will not be permitted to bring any adult guest (both classroom and online courses) without prior permission and approval from LRSP.
  24. In the event of LRSP being unable to deliver your course, we will reschedule the course as soon as possible subject to the police deadline for completion, availability and without additional charge. For courses held outside of office hours, you will be contacted the following working day.
  25. LRSP will retain all records relating to the preparation, operation and attendance of the NDORS course for 12 months from the completion of the course. They will be held in compliance with corporate retention and disposition schedules to abide by the time limits for actions provided in the Limitation Act 1980. After the expiration of the retention period, the records will be destroyed. Throughout the retention period and at the time of their destruction, all the records will be kept and managed in compliance with relevant UK statutory provisions. This includes the General Data Protection Regulations as well as all our corporate records management policies and procedures. Data retained is accessible to clients on request.
