The council’s Inclusive Employment Team supports people with learning disabilities and autistic people to find work or stay in employment. The service provides job support for care leavers.
With a network of 10 job coaches, the team offers personalised, one-to-one support across the county and works with employers and partner organisations.
Support includes:
- vocational profiling, to understand an individual’s strengths, interests, aspirations and support needs.
- co produced action planning, focused on personal progression and employment goals.
- job searching, matching and job carving, including accessing unadvertised roles.
- practical employability support, such as CVs, applications and interview preparation.
- employer engagement and liaison, including advice on reasonable adjustments.
- in work support, to help participants settle into roles, sustain employment and progress.
Anyone can refer via an online expression of interest form.
How the Referral Process Works
Referrals can be made by anyone and help us assess eligibility, suitability and the most appropriate support pathway.
The key stages are:
- referral / Expression of Interest received.
- initial contact and eligibility check.
- face to face initial meeting to confirm suitability and explain the service.
- vocational profile and action plan completed.
- employment support begins, tailored to the individual.
If the support from our Inclusive Employment Team isn't the right fit for someone, we'll do our best to signpost to other options.
