Register a birth


We are continuing to accept appointments for the registration of all births which have occurred in Lincolnshire and to take declarations for births occurring outside of the county.

To make an appointment you must call our Customer Service Centre on 01522 782244.

You will be instructed what to bring to the appointment and the extra Covid-19 processes in place in our offices designed to keep staff and customers safe.

You can make a claim for child benefit or universal credit prior to the birth being registered.

By law, you must register your baby's birth within 42 days.

You can book an appointment at any registration office in Lincolnshire.

If your baby was not born in Lincolnshire, you can still book an appointment with us. We will send the details to the correct office.

If your baby was born in Lincolnshire, you can buy birth certificates at your appointment.

They cost £11 each.

If you want one later, you can order a certificate online or by post.

Late registrations

You can register any birth with us within 12 months. After that, you must get approval from the General Register Office.
