Work, learning and money

Money confidence

While you were in care, your carers, social worker and other professionals will have helped you build the money skills you need for adult life.

This includes understanding how to budget, save money, manage a bank account, pay for everyday essentials, and make informed decisions about spending.

You have had opportunities to learn about things like wages, benefits, tax, bills, credit, loans and the costs of living independently.

As you prepared for adulthood, support has been available to help you practise managing your own money and increase your confidence. This included setting a budget, planning for larger purchases, understanding tenancy-related costs, avoiding debt and knowing where to get advice if you are struggling financially.

The aim is for you to feel more confident, informed and in control of your money, so you can make decisions that help you achieve your goals and live independently.

Your social worker and personal advisor will continue to support you however there are some other ways we can help.
