Around the 14th of August a letter was written to Boston utd football club asking them to remove some road side signs that had been put up. ( nothing to do with the club it was the supporter association that put them up) we did take them down and since then i have requested other signs should be removed for the same reason as these signs, I now feel we/i are not being treated fairly and being discriminated against.
I am looking to take this case further. I was told over the phone by the highways department that it was a complaint by a local resident.
1) What i am requesting is the details of this person and a written reason why our signs have been asked to be removed, while others are allowed while awaiting planning permission.
It was not reported on fix my street as i monitor this as i am a member of Wyberton Wombles and use this to report issues we find while out wombling. - Decision

1) Unauthorised signs placed withing the highway are considered an obstruction of the highway and can at time pose a danger to highway users through either being a distraction or a physical obstruction that could cause injury.
We take a risk based approach to obstructions of the highway, prioritising those we consider to be an immediate danger and those that are complained about. In this instance we received an anonymous report from a member of the public expressing concern.
Our Highway Officer visited the site and found the signs were of a substantial nature and had been secured in the ground, which in itself is a significant danger to the person placing them being at risk of striking utility services.
The Highways officer subsequently had a lengthy conversation with him explaining our position. Not all reports appear on fixmystreet, those made by phone or in person will not appear.
Many such obstructions are dealt with each year.
Our contractor has been instructed to remove the redundant signs associated with completed roadworks.
