Young passenger awareness - assembly for year 11

Provider
Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership
Outcomes

This workshop will enable students to:

  •  Understand the risks associated with being a passenger in a vehicle, including how to identify and avoid potentially unsafe situations.
  • Recognise their role in protecting themselves and others as vulnerable road users.
  •  Develop the confidence to make safer choices around vehicles and road environments.
  • Be empowered to influence positive behaviour among peers and within their communities regarding road safety.
Service Description

This session focuses on raising passenger awareness among young people, particularly when travelling with newly qualified drivers. It explores how peer pressure can influence decision-making in vehicles and encourages students to adopt safe road behaviours. The session also highlights the "Fatal Four" – speeding, mobile phone use, drink or drug driving, and not wearing seatbelts – which are the leading causes of serious road incidents. Through discussion and practical guidance, students will be empowered to make informed choices, recognise unsafe situations, and take steps to protect themselves and others as responsible passengers.
