Decision

Lincolnshire County Council completed a detailed design for this project ( A road widening scheme of the Sandon Road, St Catherine's Rd, Stonebridge Rd, Beacon Rd Junction at Grantham) and issued the project to tender.

A political decision was taken not to proceed with the project as the costs far outweighed the long-term benefits of the project at the location.

In addition as part of the scheme design, the project team identified those 5 trees, within the land ownership of highways, needed to be removed in order to widen the road. A decision was taken to remove these ahead of the scheme due to the Wildlife and Countryside Act.  However as outlined above, due to the scheme costs the scheme did not go ahead. It was proposed to replace these trees with 2 new trees, but as yet this has not occurred.
