School security support - Stay Safe Partnership

Introduction

Promoting good cyber security across all schools

Service Description

Free stress testing

A table top exercise that determines how effectively a school can continue to provide critical services in the face of a widespread IT disaster.  An increasing number of schools have been targeted by malicious hackers who have successfully paralysed critical IT systems for days, weeks and in some cases months. Knowing how to respond to such incidents in a manner that enables a timely recovery and protects the wellbeing of staff and students is extremely challenging.

We can help schools work through this process with our expert advice. Stress testing usually takes 90 to 120 minutes and requires the coming together of multiple stakeholders such as SLT, IT management, the bursar, a governor and one other member of staff.

Free risk assessments of the school’s network, policies and procedures

A formal security audit that seeks to determine how well protected a school is from cyber threats.  The assessment takes the form of a 90 minute discussion with the network manager and IT team. Findings are reported to senior management in a jargon free report, helping the school to identify, prioritise and resolve key security issues.
