International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance - Council Adopting Definition of Antisemitism - Find a freedom of information request

Request

Please could you let me know whether your Council has joined over 200 other councils in adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of Antisemitism as requested by the then Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government in January 2017?

If so, please could you point me to the decision?

If not, please could you let me know if the council leadership (including the Leader and/or Portfolio holder) plan on adopting the definition in the near future?

Decision

The council's policies ensure that any form of prejudice or hostility to any group of people, religion or race will not be tolerated which would include antisemitism. Our commitment to respecting and accepting all cultures in everything we do and rejecting any form of racism is highlighted in a declaration from all group leaders which has been available for all visitors to see in our main reception at county offices in Lincoln for the past four years. It reads:

"We in Lincolnshire are proud of our diverse and multi-racial heritage, which we regard as a source of cultural, social and economic strength. We will work vigorously to combat all forms of racism to rid Lincolnshire of racial discrimination and to enshrine the principle that individuality and universality are the foundations of justice and peace."

This is followed by 11 declarations, signed by all group leaders.
