School Appeal 2019 - Grantham and Kesteven Girls School - Find a freedom of information request

Request

There had clearly been an error in sending out the 'Admission Appeal Procedure With Presentation'. Stage one -morning presentation had to be adjourned an hour to see if they could go on. We were asked at the start of our appeal that afternoon if we had received ours in good time (we had after telephoning to ask for it). I know parents were also asked a week later in their appeal if they had received theirs on time. If this had no overall effect, why was the question asked if everyone was happy to go on as a date could not be guaranteed when the next appeal could go ahead. Under the FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT I would like to know if SOME or all of these places were given preference because paperwork was received late or not at all.

Decision

The Clerk to the Appeal Panel for the Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School block appeals 2019 has confirmed that no appeal was upheld on the basis that the paperwork was received late or not at all.

The Panel cannot take such a factor into account and each appeal was decided purely on its own merits and only those cases which outweighed the School's case were successful.

The Clerk takes notes for each individual appeal and it would have been recorded in those notes whether the Parent was happy to proceed with their appeal at the allotted time.
