Next of Kin - Find a freedom of information request

1.I would like to request details for the person or department that deal with someone passing away and leaving no known next-of-kin.

The types of departments that we have dealt with in other councils include Elderly People Services, Elderly Care, and Health & Social Care.

I appreciate that these may not be the names of your departments though, hence the reason for this email, and our hope that you can put us in contact with the correct people.

Please can you provide me with contact details for a person within the relevant departments.

1.The Lincolnshire County Council Coroners Service is not responsible for locating the NOK of any deceased, as this does not fall within the duties of the Coroner. Locating the NOK would initially fall to Lincolnshire Police at the time of death. If they cannot locate any NOK, the responsibility for arranging the deceased's funeral lies with:

a. If the person dies in the community - Environmental Health Department of the local council of where the person died e.g. Lincoln City Council

b. If the person dies in Hospital - Hospital Trust where the person died is responsible e.g. ULHT

The organisation is responsible for both funeral arrangements and registering the death
