Lincoln Recycling Vehicles - Find a freedom of information request

Request

1. Please can you explain why delivery of residential waste material is not permitted using a transit-type van for transport to the Lincoln Recycling site?

2. As I have made use of such a vehicle without restriction in the past, I assume that this is a temporary restriction in connection with the COVID19 situation. If this is the case, please provide details of the risk assessment upon which this decision is based.

3. Please also indicate on what basis any future decision to allow vans on site will be made.

Decision

1. In accordance with national health and safety guidance from WISH (Waste Industry Safety and Health) and liaison with our contractors who operate the sites, the Council has introduced a booking system to control the number of residents on site at any one time. A number of timed booking slots are allocated and due to the large load carrying capacity of transit-type vans and the length of time they take to unload we are not allowing them (or large trailers) on site to maintain the throughput of residents and to keep the booking system at the sites to its time schedule.

2. The decision is based on current national health and safety guidance from WISH and the health and safety assessments of the site operators.

3. We are working on a solution to be able to allocate booking slots to large vans and trailers.
Please keep checking our website and social media to see when this goes live and you can start to use the booking system for large vans or trailers.
