Active Travel Fund - Find a freedom of information request

On the 16th of November 2020 LCC published a press release for £799,900 of funding from the active travel fund.

In regards to this:

1. What schemes have been short listed for this money to be spent on?

2. Please state the estimated cost for each scheme

3. Please give a description of each scheme (length, what roads, permanent or temporary etc)

4. What works may be involved in the schemes?

5. When is it likely that the first scheme will start construction or be implemented?

Decision

1.

  • An active travel area for Grantham, Spalding, and Louth town centres 
  • An active travel corridor along Lumley Road in Skegness 
  • An active travel corridor along the eastern part of Mablethorpe High Street 
  • A point closure on West Street, Boston 
  • Exploring an uphill/downhill cycling route in Lincoln 
  • A low traffic neighbourhood in Sturton-By-Stow 
  • A 'School Streets' project for selected schools in the Lincoln area 
  • A point closure in central Gainsborough 
  • Protection of Newark Rd cycle way, North Hykeham/Lincoln 
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of the projects listed above

 

2. Please note all costs are indicative at this point in time. ·

  • Grantham - £100,000 
  • Louth - £80,000 
  • Boston - £60,000 
  • Spalding - £150,000 
  • Skegness - £100,000 
  • Other schemes costs are not yet developed

 

3.

  • Grantham – Introducing a one way system for motor vehicles with traffic calming along High Street and Westgate. Additional space will be used for providing cycle lanes and footway widening. 1.1 miles 
  • Louth Town Centre – New cycle lanes along Eastgate, Market Place, and Mercer Road. Point closures on Burnt Hill Lane and Aswell Street. .75miles 
  • Boston – point closure to motor vehicles on West Street between George Street and Rosegarth Street 0.3-0.5miles 
  • Spalding – additional cycle lane loop around the centre of the town, including Double St, Broad St, Herring Ln, Westloe St, Sheepmarket, and The Crescent. 0.75miles 
  • Skegness – point closure to vehicles on Lumley Rd. 0.3miles 

All other projects are currently at a feasibility stage All measures are temporary, but high quality materials will be used including parklets, bus gates and planters.

 

4. The installation of temporary measures such as planters, orca wands, and parklets

 

5. Background work is currently underway but it is anticipated that physical work will begin early in the new financial year (from 1st April 2021)
