Decision

1. The Service delivers a one day in-house Trauma course as part of the initial Fire Fighter course. The training day is facilitated by one of our Training Instructors, who operates at Watch Manager level. The cost to run the day is approximately £1000, which includes salary/overheads/consumables.

In addition to this, all of Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue (LFR) operational staff have a two hour training session every year as part of their maintenance of competence programme; this is again delivered in-house. LFR have approximately 600 operational staff, ranging from Fire Fighter to Watch Manager level, with an average hourly rate of £15 an hour. This equates to approximately £18,000.a. All training is carried out at the same level, with costs noted above.

2. Trauma training is currently carried out by LFR staff.

a. N/A.

3. LFR are part of County Council CG and as such our delivery of medical/trauma related activities are covered by this framework.

The above details relate to Fire & Rescue activities as part of our statutory response and responsibilities. In addition to this LFR provide a Co-Responder / medical emergency response at 26 of the 38 Stations. To allow individuals to carry out this role, additional training is provided by an external provider. This role is carried out on a volunteer basis, and as such the training is not provided to all personnel. Therefore this figure has not been included in the response.
