Gainsborough Recycling Centre - Find a freedom of information request

Request

Please can you explain why, despite producing the confirmation e mail for a booking at Gainsborough recycling centre, which contains my vehicle registration number and my address I was refused the opportunity to deposit the legal waste in my vehicle? I arrived in good time for my appointment but when I reached the head of the queue and the staff member reviewed my details I suffered the frustration and embarrassment of being turned away.

Furthermore, I received abuse from other members of the public behind my vehicle for holding up proceedings! The operative explained that I was being refused on the grounds of my address being 'over the bridge'. I explained that I had made the booking in on the official website and asked why, when I had entered my address, if it was in the wrong area for this centre it was not rejected?

Indeed the system sourced my address from the postcode and with confirmation in writing I had no reason not to assume this was appropriate?

Gainsborough is my nearest recycling centre and I was not attempting to enter without an appointment or commit any sort of wrong-doing. When the operative explained my address was outside the area served by the recycling centre I accepted this but contested my not being permitted to empty my car since I had an appointment and was at the point of offloading the waste. The member of staff denied that the website belongs to them and denied access because my vehicle registration number and details were not on the list so my question for you, is who does it belong to and where are my details being stored?

1. Under the freedom of information act I am asking the figures for how many people book on the Lincolnshire Gov website and are then turned away in this abrupt manner and what happens to the personal data?

Since this booking method arrived to address the initial corona virus restraints I cannot see that this has not been a regular occurrence for many people in the locality. This is my first use of a recycling centre this year and I think it wholly reasonable to rely on the information on the website.

2. Why are your staff not flagging this up as a systems failure which is in fact decreasing covid security at this time?
