Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children - Find a freedom of information request

Request

We write to request information regarding the transfer of unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) to the UK.

The UK has a number resettlement programmes that arrange for the transfer of UASC to the UK. Frequently these children are placed within the care of a local authority under the Children Act 1989.

The resettlement programmes include: the Gateway Protection Programme (Gateway), the Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS) and the Vulnerable Children's Resettlement Scheme (VCRS).

In addition, Section 67 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Dubs Amendment) committed the government to transfer 480 unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) from Europe, these children have all been transferred to the UK. Please provide the following information:

1. How many children have been placed in Lincolnshire County Council in the last 5 years through a resettlement programme, such as those listed above?

2. Of the children referred to in question 1, how many of those children have been age disputed and/or subjected to an age assessment?

Decision

Lincolnshire County Council did not sign up for the scheme; therefore the answer to both questions is zero.
