43 Point National pay Spine Introduced in April 2019. - Find a freedom of information request

1. Does the local authority use the 43 point national pay spine introduced in April 2019? Or are local pay rates in operation? 

2. If the local authority uses the national pay spine are there variations? e.g. Some spine points paid at a different rate to the national scale?

3. Does the local authority have an agreement to pay employees at least the Living Wage Foundation living wage of £9.00 per hour? 

4. For the following job roles:

• Cleaner
• Teaching assistant
• Higher level teaching assistant
• Domiciliary care assistant
• Refuse operative
• Environmental health officer
• Trading standards officer

a. If the national pay spine is in use, what are the current minimum and maximum spine points for each job role?   

b. If the national pay spine is not in use, what are the current minimum and maximum salaries for each job role?

5. Please send a copy of council grading structure showing the minimum and maximum spine points for each grade.

1. The Local Authority uses the attached local Pay Spine which has anchor points to the National Pay Spine.

3. The Council does not have an agreement to pay the Living Wage Foundation living wage. However, they do pay the government's minimum wage.

• Cleaner: Grade 1, points 1-3
• Teaching assistant: Teaching Assistant Level 1, Grade 3 – points 6-9.
• Teaching Assistant Level 2, Grade 5 – points 12-15.
• Higher level teaching assistant: Grade 8, points 21-24.
• Domiciliary care assistant: The Council does not employ Domiciliary Care Assistants but it does employ Residential Care Officers.
• Residential Care Officer Level 1, Grade 4 – points 9-12.
• Residential Care Officer Level 1, Grade 7 – points 18-21
• Residential Care Officer Level 1, Grade 9 – points 24-27
• Refuse operative: The Council does not employ Refuse Operatives.
• Environmental health officer: The Council does not employ Environmental Health Officers.
• Trading standards officer:
• Level 1, Grade 5 – points 12-15.
• Level 2, Grade 6 – points 15-18.
• Level 3, Grade 7 – points 18-21.
• Level 4, Grade 8 – points 21-24.
• Principal Trading Standards Officer – Grade 10 – points 27-30
