2. Full-time support would be a child with an adult alongside them for the whole time they are in school, including playtime and lunch breaks. The children in the cohort for this FOI are in mainstream education therefore we would not expect all children with an EHC Plan to require support in everything they do. The amount of support has nothing to do with resources. If a child requires full-time support, then the funding is allocated to the school, and they employ the necessary resource. The decision on the level of support a child requires comes through the assessment process (Educational Psychologist/ Specialist Teachers/Paediatricians etc). For some children they may need a high level of support in say literacy and numeracy, but very little across other parts of the school day. For others, the support may be around their physical ability, and they may not require any support in key subject areas. The assessment informs the decision on the level of support required.
