Warm spaces - Find a freedom of information request

Request

Warm Banks have been described as "'warm spaces' to provide heated sites for those unable to afford their energy bills" which will be rolled out through the winter.

1. Do you have any plans to run warm banks or an equivalent scheme anywhere within your borough?

2. When will this scheme be launched and what is the eligibility criteria for service users?

3. Have any spaces, buildings etc currently been allocated for the purpose of warm banks; if so where are they?

4. Under what specific criteria have these spaces been chosen?

5. Who will be managing these warm spaces on a day to day basis? Will it be council workers specifically or will it be subcontracted to a private company/charitable organisation?

Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

Councils in Lincolnshire are not currently running warm space locations in their communities. Instead, as key partners in Lincolnshire Resilience Forum, they are actively helping third sector colleagues such as charities and community groups who themselves are running warm spaces, by assisting them in obtaining community grant funding to help support their project. In addition, councils across the county are supporting residents in their use of the warm spaces and helping identify and address any of the challenges created in the setting up and running of these areas.

The councils are also ensuring they assist those residents and businesses in need by signposting how they obtain food, access available appropriate funding, save money and make the right choices to make their money go further during the cost of living challenge.

This will be done through the use of targeted, consistent communications adopted by the authorities, partners and the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum
