Batteries - Waste A-Z

What to do
It is illegal for batteries to go in any of your household bins. Batteries are a fire risk and not only are they toxic, but they also contain valuable material that can only be recovered by a specialist processor.

Other recycling options:

Batteries, including car batteries, should be taken to a Household Waste Recycling Centre (except Gainsborough).
Alternatively, many shops which sell batteries offer facilities to return them for recycling.
