Clinical waste, needles and syringes - Waste A-Z

What to do

Your healthcare provider (hospital, GP, district nurse) or district council should arrange collection of your sharps bin. Any medical gasses should go back to your healthcare provider, or gas canisters and gas bottles can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Medical equipment such as crutches, wheelchairs, bed sticks, commodes, rollators and perching stools can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre to be reused or recycled.

Medical or clinical waste that is potentially hazardous should not be placed in your bins at home or taken to a Household Waste Recycling Centre.
