The amount of money paid out concerning damage caused by potholes since 2016 - Find a freedom of information request

Request

1. Would like to know the amount of money paid out by the council concerning damage caused by potholes since 2016.

2. I would also like to receive the number of claims made against Lincolnshire County Council and the number which have been settled. I would also like to know the number of outstanding cases against Lincolnshire County Council.

3. I would also like information on the number of potholes Lincolnshire County Council has awaiting repair on this date.

I was looking for a live figure for the number of potholes needing repair in the council area.

If you haven't got that figure, can you pass on the data you do have with the rest of the request.

Decision

1. The total amount paid since 2016 is £2,891,507.48.

2. Total of claims since 2016 is 11737 of which 6072 have been settled with 652 cases still open.

3. As of 11th April 2023, Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) currently have 534 live carriageway pothole related enquiries, that being enquiries relating to carriageway potholes that have not yet been assessed and where a job has not been issued to make a repair. Additionally, some of these enquiries may be duplicates (as in they relate to the same pothole or to a pothole where a job has already been raised to repair) or they may turn out not to be classed as a pothole once they have been investigated by a highways officer. LCC currently have 3403 live jobs which have been issued to the contractor that relate to carriageway potholes.
