Alternative provision which is not registered as a school or a hospital within Lincolnshire - Find a freedom of information request

Request

Please can you respond to my FOI request seeking information around alternative provision and the current demand for it.

1) The total number of children from your local authority area attending alternative provision which is not registered as a school or a hospital in January 2023.

Please break this for the number of pupils attending unregistered alternative provision down into:

a) tutoring companies delivering mainly face to face tuition,

b) Mainly online providers

c)  vocational training

d)  therapeutic support

e)  Other provision, including faith schools

2) How many children from your local authority area were attending alternative provision located outside your local authority area in January 2023?

3) Have any of the state funded APs (PRUs) in your local authority area had to expand their capacity since September 2022 to meet increased demand? If so, by how many places?

4) How many children from your local authority area are currently (as of 2nd August) waiting to be taken on roll in a PRU school but don't yet have a place?

5) Of these currently waiting to be taken on roll in a PRU, how many have, in 2023, been receiving less than the 32.5 hours a week they would have otherwise been getting in a mainstream school?

6) What provision is in place for those pupils waiting for a PRU place? Can you break this down into types:

a) No provision

b) Mainly online tutoring,

c) Mainly face-to-face tutoring,

d) vocational training,

e) therapeutic support

f) and any other types of provision?

Decision

1. For PRT Behavioural Ladder/EBSA pupils in AP this was 0 – all were placed in regulated AP settings.

SEND/Interim Home Tuition AP - 7 in unregulated AP.

Not applicable for PRT referred AP as all in regulated AP settings. For SEND/IHT of the 7 pupils attending unregistered AP in January 2023:

a. 0.

b. 3.

c. 2.

d. 2.

e. 0.

2. None via PRT referrals into AP. SEND AP places with unregulated settings were all in Lincolnshire (home based learning via online counted as within county).

3. Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) do not have PRUs. The 4 AP academies in the county have not increased capacity in the specified period.

4. LCC do not have PRU provision but do have Alternative Provision. As of the date of response: - there are 45 students that have been allocated regulated alternative provision places that are due to be admitted in September 2023. - there are 25 students receiving educational support AP packages, whilst a place in a regulated alternative provision place is identified. - there are 10 students receiving educational support AP packages whilst awaiting reintegration into mainstream provision.

5. Full time education is 25 hours per week, there are currently none of the pupils awaiting enrollment in school based provision that are receiving 25 hours education.

6. Mainly online tutoring.
