Teacher disciplinaries - Find a freedom of information request

Request

Since the beginning of the academic year 20/21

1. How many teachers or other members of school staff have been suspended, disciplined and/or dismissed after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a pupil or making unwanted advances towards a pupil? If it does not exceed the cost threshold, please provide a breakdown for the number for teachers and other support staff.

2. Of those to have been suspended, disciplined or dismissed, how many cases resulted in a charge being brought against the teacher/member of support staff?

If it does not exceed the cost threshold, what percentage of schools in your area are state-schools which are overseen by councils, the percentage that are academy trusts, and the percentage which are independent schools.

Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

1. One member of staff

2. The individual in the case had resigned but a retrospective disciplinary hearing was held and found that had the individual remained in post would likely to have been dismissed.

The case was then referred for consideration by the Teaching Regulation Agency. The Authority is not aware of any criminal charges being brought. Please note that this only relates to maintained schools across Lincolnshire.
