Unfixed potholes - Find a freedom of information request

Request

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act.

Can you please provide the following:

1. How many unfixed potholes are there currently recorded under the council authority?

2. How much has the council spent on pothole repairs in the last 3 years - can this be broken down by year? (From January 2021-December 2023) - Up to and including any data held for January 2024.

3. How much has the council paid out in compensation claims and legal fees relating to vehicle damage caused by potholes since Jan 2022-Dec 2023 (up to and including any data held for Jan 2024)?

Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

1. 4628 (as of 2nd February 2024)

2. LCC do not calculate the cost of repairs specifically allocated to potholes each year. The gangs are mixed discipline and undertake a variation of repairs not just potholes, but all costs are assigned at a gang level so there are a number of financial challenges with trying to assign costs of materials and items of plant which are easily identified on a gang basis but further dividing these to specific repair type leads to inaccuracies.

3. £479,351
