Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

1) A bank slip occurred on the watercourse adjacent to Wharton Road and undermined a section of the road. As such, it was unsafe for traffic to use the road and a road closure was established whilst repairs were undertaken by the responsible party.

2) As detailed above, the road was closed as there had been a bank slip, the road had been undermined and was unsafe for vehicles and pedestrians to use. Upon inspection of the bank slip, it was realised that the slip was more complex than anticipated, with a high risk of undermining beneath the road for a length of around 35m.

3) The watercourse is owned by the adjacent landowner and maintained by the Environment Agency. The Scunthorpe and Gainsborough WMB undertook works on behalf of all partners to repair the bank slip and desilt the watercourse to restore natural flows. As Highway Authority, we supported our partners and assisted with the road closure
