2. What year/s did alterations and modifications take place to the road bridge on Main Road, over Stainfield Beck?

3. What were these modifications? and why were they implemented?

4. What years have the properties in the vicinity of the road bridge on Main Road over Stainfield Beck been flooded?

5. How many properties have been affected by flooding in Stainfield? What is their location? In what years did this happen?

6. Provide all records, including correspondence, risk assessments, Local Flood Risk Management Strategy, reports and minutes of meetings relating to flooding events in Stainfield including investigations and identification of causes of flooding.

7. Provide all records relating to flood alleviation works proposed and of subsequent action taken by Lincolnshire County Council to address flooding and reduce risks of flooding to the properties previously affected in Stainfield. Particularly, copies of the risk assessments relating to flooding from the Main Road; and the road bridge on Main Road over the water course of Stainfield Beck.

10. Provide all details and records relating to maintenance work identified and maintenance work carried out on Main Road, Stainfield and on the road bridge on Main Road over Stainfield Beck.

11. For the year 2019 to provide all records, risk assessments, minutes, correspondence and reports relating to improvements proposed and improvements executed to Main Road Stainfield to mitigate flooding/water run off - in particular mention of Parkgate Cottages.

Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

1. LCC ref 17/03/82 – Stainfield Bridge, 5.2m span brick arch, built 1800.

2. Unknown what date the modifications took place as no drawings exist.

3. The bridge appears to have been extended using reinforced concrete (RC), This may have been to replace the existing headwalls and to allow some widening of the bridge for the highway. The RC widened sections matches the arch profile.

4. 2007 – anecdotal evidence from residents Nov 2019 – Section 19 Flood Investigation (S19-453 Barlings Eau, Stainfield, Market Rasen / 15/08/2023 07:26 PM). 2023 - Storm Babet 2024 - Storm Henk

5. Total properties affected from flooding both internal & external = 13 Years = 2007, 2023 & 2024

2007 – from anecdotal evidence it is understood that flooding occurred to 1 & 2 Parkgate cottages during 2007. (2 props)

2019 – Short Ferry Road (S19-453 no reports of internal flooding during this event). (0 props)

2023 Storm Babet – Short Ferry Road (Highway, Top Farm, The Old Stables, The Oaks (internal), Main Road (1 & 2 Parkgate cottages, 1 - 2 manor cottages, Stainfield and Apley village hall) (8 props)

2024 Storm Henk – Short Ferry Road (both the highway and a sandbag request for Top Farm) and main road (1 + 2 Parkgate cottages – external flooding) (3 props)

Due to the amount of files found and the amount of time it would take to search each file, the information is exempt under section 12 (1) of the FOI Act 2000 Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information 2000 does not oblige a public authority to comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the cost of complying with the request would exceed the appropriate limit.
