I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.
1. LCC do not record the cost of individual pothole repairs, however we are able to show the price for a repair. LCC follows a risk based approach to pothole repairs as set out in our Highways Asset Management Strategy which requires repairs to be carried out at differing response times depending on the risk to the public. Each of these repair times has a separate price and the number of repairs in each category can vary greatly. The prices supplied are the average price across the response range. It should also be noted that LCC carries out an emergency response service which may ‘make safe’ before a physical repair can be carried out.
Temporary repair2022 - £29.64
2023 - £31.75
2024 - £33.15
2. See above
Permanent repair
2022 - £49.42
2023 - £52.94
2024 - £55.28
3. The data provided is for the number of carriageway potholes (not including edge damage) repaired during the Fiscal years identified.
2022 - 30414
2023 - 35367
2024 (Partial year April to 12/02/2025) – 26076The information provided is purely the pothole numbers we have defined individual completion data for, on a defect by defect basis. Some potholes will be repaired via other workstreams on a time charge or planned scheme basis, where material quantities but not individual pothole numbers are recorded and thus we do not hold that information for release under FOI.
4. Temporary and Permanent repair percentages are identified below.
Permanent
2022 – 86.94%
2023 – 80.00%
2024 (Partial year April to 12/02/2025) – 69.80%
5. Temporary
2022 – 13.06%
2023 – 20.00%
2024 (Partial year April to 12/02/2025) – 30.20%
6.Temporary repairs are required to last for at least 12 months within the LCC specification and any failures would be carried out at the contractors’ expense.
