Wide area network, local area network and Wi-Fi and wireless network suppliers - Find a freedom of information request

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am writing to request information regarding the contracts held by the Council for the provision of the following network services:

1. Wide Area Network (WAN)

2. Local Area Network (LAN)

3. Wi-Fi and Wireless Networks

4. Internet Connectivity For each of the above services,

I would be grateful if you could provide the following information:

1) Supplier: The name of the company or organisation currently providing the service.

2) Service Details: A brief description of the services currently being provided under the contract (e.g., number of sites, bandwidth, technology used, number of access points, etc.). Please provide as much detail as possible without disclosing commercially sensitive information.

3) Contract Cost: The total cost of the current contract (annual or contract term, whichever is readily available). If this information is commercially sensitive and exempt from disclosure, please explain the legal basis for the exemption.

4) Contract End Date: The date on which the current contract expires with any details of any remaining extension options

If the information is held in multiple contracts, please provide the details for each relevant contract.

2. Local Area Network (LAN)  -

Supplier: The name of the company or organisation currently providing the service - Serco

Service Details: A brief description of the services currently being provided under the contract (e.g., number of sites, bandwidth, technology used, number of access points, etc.). Please provide as much detail as possible without disclosing commercially sensitive information.

Serco provide wired and wireless infrastructure across 185 sites. Bandwidth is generally 100mb for smaller sites ranging to 1gb for medium sites and 10gb for large sites. In order to deliver this, we utilise 420 switches and 440 access points spread across the organisation.

Sites are connected using MPLS technology to deliver WAN connectivity and access third party services.

Contract Cost: The total cost of the current contract (annual or contract term, whichever is readily available). If this information is commercially sensitive and exempt from disclosure, please explain the legal basis for the exemption

The Council has a contract with SERCO who are responsible for providing multiple services including LAN support. The cost of this service cannot be separately identified within the total costs to SERCO for their service provisions to the Council. SERCO is a private company and is not covered by the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Broadly only organisations considered public authorities are covered by the legislation. This means FOI requests cannot be made to businesses and private companies generally. Therefore, Lincolnshire County Council does not hold this information.

3. Wi-Fi and Wireless Networks-

Supplier: The name of the company or organisation currently providing the service - Serco
