Construction of Coningsby Footpath 224.

 

1. Who (by name) requested the construction of the footpath. An alternative route is available on tarmac should the existing path be wet or muddy.

 

2. Who by name on the County Council authorised this vandalism.

 

3. Who, exactly, is paying for the construction work, Government money or Council Tax money.

 

4. What is the total bill for the work having been undertaken, including late finishing and restoration of grassed areas on completion. Was the work carried out supervised by Council officials during construction.

 

5. Was a simple layer of hard-core along the length of the existing footpath at a cost of possibly £1,000, ever considered, thus saving a great deal of tax payers money and preserving the character of the original path.

 

6. In these days of financial constraint, could £38,000 not be spent more wisely to the benefit of Coningsby residents.

Decision

1. This scheme was requested by Coningsby Town Council.

 

2. The County Council does not authorise vandalism.

 

3. The Public Right of Way (PROW) Development Fund projects were funded from Lincolnshire County Council capital funds.

 

4. The total cost for the work is £45,600.95. The work was carried out by the Council’s term contractor who also supervise the work during construction. The scheme was managed and overseen by the Public Rights of Way and Access Team.

 

5. Lincolnshire County Council do not use hard-core as a surface material. The path was originally a stone surface however with leaf litter and other general detritus the surface was frequently muddy and inconvenient to use.
