Prevent Awareness Workshop - Stay Safe Partnership

Outcomes

The aims of the presentation are to provide SLT / staff / governors at schools and Academies with:

  • An overview of what Prevent is
  • What it means to people working in educational settings
  • How to identify people who are vulnerable / susceptible to radicalisation
  • How to refer concerns about individuals to Prevent and get further support.
Service Description

Delivered by the Local Authority Prevent Trainer, this training lasts approximately 1 and 1/2 hours. 

  • Training is available throughout the county, in person or via Teams if required. Training consists of 2 offers:
  • Universal Training Offer - LCC will offer free face to face training for all secondary schools in the county, whether local authority maintained, Academy Trusts or Independent.  Training will also be provided to any Special Education Needs, YPLP or Alternative Provision school.
  • Targeted Training Offer - Other training will be provided dependent on an identified need – i.e. tensions in the community, previous referrals, or concerns over individuals within an organisation.  This would include:
  • Primary, Infant and Junior schools *
  • FE / HE institutions
  • Voluntary organisations
  • Community Groups

*(please note, face to face training previously provided to Primary, Infant and Junior schools is now dependent on need.  Alternative training packages are available via the LCC website including Home Office e-learning courses (https://www.support-people-susceptible-to-radicalisation.service.gov.uk/portal)

Availability

These sessions are run at times and locations to suit the school, and can be run during or after school hours. Groups of 10 plus are normally required to run a session.

Cost

Universal offer is Free to all Secondary provisions.

Targeted offer is Free and provided dependent on an identified need – i.e. tensions in the community, previous referrals, or concerns over individuals within an organisation.  This would include Primary, Infant and Junior schools.
