Q1) How much so far the proposed GDF planning in Lincolnshire has cost the council and tax payers. I understand Lincolnshire has now pulled out of any plan.

1. The costs incurred to 31st March 25 are as follows:

 

Consultancy to support Lincolnshire County Council in engaging with Nuclear Waste Services and the infrastructure implications:

 

Reimbursement from Nuclear Waste Services £51,298.06

Total cost to Lincolnshire County Council £0

 

Nuclear Policy Officer -from January 2024

 

Reimbursement of salary and on costs from Nuclear Waste Service £78,383.33

Total cost to Lincolnshire County Council £0

 

 

Travel:

 

Reimbursement from Nuclear Waste Services £500.84

Total cost to Lincolnshire County Council £0

 

 

Lincolnshire County Council has been fully reimbursed for these costs from Nuclear Waste Services.

 

Separately, members of the Community Partnership (including Lincolnshire County Council) were offered the opportunity to visit 3 relevant sites in order to understand the implications of Geological Disposal Facilities to their communities. These costs were met directly by NWS.

 

How much the proposed Geological Disposal Facility siting process in Lincolnshire has cost ‘taxpayers’:

 

Lincolnshire County Council does not have access to this information. The activities of Nuclear Waste Services, who were the promoter of the project, are funded by the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero.
