PROWs data

1. I would be grateful if you would send me an up-to-date copy of your data. I would like this information to be provided to me as an electronic copy, preferably in an ESRI shapefile or in MapInfo files. Please can you bundle up the data files into a zip file.

If you provide the information in an ESRI shapefile or MapInfo files, then I will be able to get the latitudes-longitudes of points along each path from these files.

I have seen your online map at:

https://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/coast-countryside/public-rights-way/2

However, it's not possible to get the latitudes-longitudes from this map.

Last September, you supplied your data to me in an ESRI shapefile.

2. I would like you to release the files to me with an Open licence. Most of the 140 local authorities that have released their public rights of way data have chosen to release the data with the Open Government Licence 3.0:

Last September, you released the files to me under the terms of the OGL 3.0.

If you are happy to do this again, please can you email me to say that you are releasing the files to me under the terms of the OGL 3.0.

The attached dataset was taken from the "working copy" map on 24 July 2025.

It is for information only and is an interpretation of the Definitive Map and associated documents. It does not form part of the legal record itself. Therefore, the dataset should not be relied upon for determining the position, status, width or any other matters relating to any public rights of way shown in it. For legal purposes the dataset does not displace the legal record, and recipients should be aware that changes may have been made to the legal record that are not yet included in the dataset and it will not include any changes which might subsequently be made to the "working copy" map or the legal record. The County Council also cannot guarantee that the dataset is free from errors. By using the dataset, you are acknowledging and accepting the risks arising from any errors that might exist in the dataset.

Attempting to view the dataset with detail greater than a scale of 1:10,000 may produce an inaccurate rendering of the route of a public right of way.

The dataset is licenced on the terms outlined in the Open Government Licence v3.0. This dataset is provided for use by your organisation. It should not be passed on to any individuals or organisations without prior agreement of Lincolnshire County Council.
