At the end of the session, students should: -

- Recognise social engineering techniques and how they are used to manipulate individuals into revealing information
- Explore social media use and privacy settings to improve control over personal information
- Understand what data breaches are and how they can impact individuals
- Understand the value of personal data to cyber criminals and why it is targeted
- Recognise phishing methods and develop skills to identify suspicious communications
- Understand brute force attacks and how weak passwords can be exploited
- Be able to apply six key steps to protect themselves and maintain online security

This one-hour workshop, delivered by Lincolnshire Police’s cybercrime team, explores the risks linked to social media account breaches and gives students practical guidance on staying safe online. It provides up-to-date advice on cyber protection, helping pupils learn how to secure their accounts and reduce the risk of becoming victims of cybercrime. A PowerPoint display with audio capability, along with a suitable room or hall, is required for delivery.
