Green energy projects in Lincolnshire

Request

Regarding: Reform leaders have reportedly 'declared war' on green energy projects in Lincolnshire;

1a. Can you confirm if it is the Reform administration's intent to abandon the Council's Net Zero targets?

1b. If it is, can you provide any legal advice you have taken on the legality of this?

2. Reporting suggests that the change is happening as a result of 'the cost of Net Zero'. Most plans to achieve Net Zero involve measures like switching to electric vehicles and clean sources of energy. While electric vehicles and clean energy cost money, their alternatives also cost money, and in some instances cost more than the clean alternatives. As such, it's been shown that switching to Net Zero over time will actually save money in many instances. With this in mind, can you please answer the following questions?

a. Can you please provide any data you hold on how much you expected the switch to Net Zero to cost in the time frame in which you previously intended to achieve it?

b. Could you show how much you estimated it would cost to not switch to Net Zero (i.e. how much would it cost to carry on using petrol cars, fossil fuels, etc)?

c. If possible, it would be ideal to see how much you estimated these things would cost both the Council and local tax payers (i.e. please show if Net Zero would represent a cost to the council but would ultimately save local people money).

d. Additionally, can you state if the Council determined that switching to Net Zero would cost more or less than not switching to Net Zero, along with any timelines you have.

e. If you do not possess the above information, could you please clarify why this research was not conducted as part of your original Net Zero plan?

2a. No financial calculation has been conducted on the cost of net zero – as the policy was intended to be introduced gradually up to 2050.

b. This information is not held – in general the Council does not calculate the cost of not undertaking policies.

c. This information is not held – as stated above no such financial analysis was undertaken.

d. This information is not held – as stated above no such financial analysis was undertaken.

e. As stated above the target to reach net zero up to 2050 was a phased plan – so only initial energy saving projects were undertaken
