Road Works at Tallington

Request

Why are the road works at tallington should have started August 11th why no action,so also hardly no work done in rhyall road apart for 2 sets of traffic lights.so why give a diversion via tallington if you closing the deeping to stamford road.,going back to stamford why close the road at night time for what.

Decision

The Ryhall Road works include for the complete refurbishment of two pedestrian crossing facilities and a significant length of full resurfacing.  Pedestrian crossing facilities, depending upon complexity, usually take three to four weeks each to complete.  The resurfacing work also comprises a similar programme duration.  By co-promoting the replacement of the three assets simultaneously, programme efficiencies will be achieved, thus resulting in an overall reduction in time needed to occupy the network.

Regarding the works in Tallington which should have started 11th August, these works form part of a High Voltage reinforcement scheme being carried out by National Grid. The traffic management strategy for the works on the A1175 included the closure of the two laybys only, west of the village, which were to be used to store materials, spoil, and welfare units.

However, due to delays within National Grid’s programme, the works — including the layby closures and the installation of the HV cables — has been postponed, which is why no activity has taken place to date. Lincolnshire County Council are in communication with National Grid to try and re-programme these works.
