b. Behind the George Hotel

f. St George's Square

g. If no such assessment exists, please confirm this.





3. Costs and Compensation

a. The expected total and budgeted costs of the 2025 works.

b. Details of any provision, contingency, or allocated budget for compensating businesses severely impacted by the closure, including any methodology for calculating such compensation.

c. If no such provision exists, please confirm this.



4. Decision-Making and Notification

a. The date the decision to close Stamford Town Bridge was formally approved and by whom (name and job title).

Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

 

1. Maintenance History: The date and details of the most recent maintenance prior to the current closure carried out on:

 

a) The bridge was last waterproofed in 1994 which also included a reinforced concrete saddle to protect the arches b) During the above 1994 scheme

c) During the above 1994 scheme

 

2. Business Impact Assessment: Copies of any impact assessments or reports (including drafts) relating to the effect of the planned closure on local businesses, particularly those located on:

a-g. Business Impact assessments are not carried for individual streets or businesses. The traffic management options were discussed with our local highway colleagues, contractor, local elected members to try and get the works carried out in the shortest possible time and most cost efficient use of public finds. Alternative Traffic Management options were discussed and considered but discounted as the duration of the works and cost increases we found to be in the region of 40-60% increase on duration and cost leading to prolonged impact on the local businesses

 

3. Costs and Compensation

a. £163k Works cost. Total scheme cost including main works, design and supervision fees and pre works investigations - £200k

b. None

c. Lincolnshire County Council have a statutory duty as Highway Authority to maintain the highway. There are no grounds for compensation under grounds of nuisance or disruption whilst we are undertaking our statutory legal obligation of maintaining the highway

4. Decision-Making and Notification a. 3rd June 2025, We cannot release officer’s names under GDPR
